Airgo Networks: From Unknown To Leader

Launching A new Technology

At the time Airgo approached Sparkpr, the company was a small, unknown wireless chip company with a breakthrough Wi-Fi technology called MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output). Airgo had yet to announce product availability, had no customers and was entering a market already perceived as mature and approaching “commoditization.”

Leveraging Executive Expertise

Since the key executives at the company were instrumental in creating many industry leading technologies, Sparkpr developed a communications strategy that drew upon their core expertise. At product launch, Sparkpr made certain to attach Airgo executives successful history to the breakthrough multiple antenna system, legitimizing entry to market. We further elevated company and product status by promoting MIMO as the foundation of next generation Wi-Fi, 802.11n.

Becoming A Wireless Pioneer

Working with our Tokyo public relations partner, Sparkpr delivered extensive media coverage in the U.S. and Japan. Coverage included BusinessWeek, CNET, Forbes, The New York Times, Nikkei, PC Magazine, Reuters, The San Jose Mercury News and The Wall Street Journal, to name a few.

On December 4, 2006, Qualcomm announced that it would acquire Airgo Networks. The industry continues to recognizes Airgo as the pioneers of MIMO, which has become an important part of modern wireless communication standards.
