MySpace: Announcing The App Gallery

Out of Beta.  Launching Everywhere.

When social networking pioneer MySpace launched their App Gallery, they turned to Sparkpr to generate worldwide interest and buzz, while differentiating them in the rapidly growing app marketplace.

Multi-Faceted Strategy

Sparkpr defined clear messaging out the gate, then connected one-on-one with media to ensure message delivery and pickup. To manage media focus, we held separate developer and consumer launches for the App Gallery. We also played up MySpace’s non-invasive approach to social networking and created local intrigue with a Silicon Valley launch party at the company’s new Bay Area office.

Success Is In The Metrics

Sparkpr far exceeded launch metrics, specifically:

  • Developer site launch: Secured more than 50 unique articles with positive to neutral tone
  • Launch event: Secured 40 media/bolgger attendees and 18 unique articles
  • App Gallery beta launch: Secured more than 30 unique articles, with a continued positive tone
  • App Gallery launch: secured more than 35 unique, positive to neutral articles
  • Big Wins in Business outlets: Agence France Presse, AP, Bloomberg News, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Fortune, Wall Street Journal
  • Big Wins Tech and blog outlets: CNET, eWEEK, GigaOm, IDG, Information Week, Mashable, WIRED
