Skyfire – The Real Web on A Phone

Firing Up A Downloadable Mobile Browser

Sparkpr was faced with the challenge to unveil Skyfire, a mobile browser that makes browsing on a smartphone as simple as browsing on a PC. As a new entrant into the mobile browser space and with a product only available as a private beta, Sparkpr recommended DEMO as the best launch platform to reach early adopters and influencers who were all heavy smartphone users.

Focusing on Hot Buttons

The goal at launch was to not only get positive reviews from gadget and smartphone bloggers for Skyfire, but to position the company more broadly within business and trade press and with leading industry analysts. The Sparkpr team also had to contend with the popular Safari browser for iPhone and educate media on the uniqueness of Skyfire’s interactive social browsing capabilities and “real-Web” access. We demoed Skyfire next to other mobile browsers with a focus on rendering video, a major hot buttons for users.

Critical Acclaim

At launch, Skyfire received critical acclaim due to its focus on solving one of the biggest issues for consumers – a broken mobile browsing experience. Sparkpr secured early industry support with Jupiter and M:Metrics and secured 17 pre-briefings resulting in 60 stories on launch day. Consumer technology media heavy-weights from USA Today, BusinessWeek and The Wall Street Journal all lined up to see the browser in action at DEMO.
