Trolltech was founded in 1994 by Haavard Nord (CEO) and Eirik Chambe-Eng (President). Trolltech employs over 130 people, and markets its products through a combination of direct sales, resellers, and strategic partners.
Trolltech® is a software company with two product lines: Qt® and Qtopia®:
Qt is a cross-platform C++ application framework developers can use to write single-source applications that run natively on Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac OS X and embedded Linux. Qt has been used to build thousands of successful commercial applications worldwide, and is the basis of the open source KDE desktop environment.
Qtopia is the first comprehensive application platform built for embedded Linux, and is used on numerous Linux-based PDAs and Smartphones.
Trolltech is an unusual software company for several reasons: Has achieved continuous sales growth over the past ten years. Trolltech employs a successful dual licensing strategy, offering both commercial and Open Source software licensing options to developers. Founders decided to act on their belief in sharing the wealth by donating five percent of Trolltech’s equity to a charitable foundation.
Trolltech is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, with offices in Brisbane, Australia, Palo Alto, California and Bejing, China.
